How to install a loading screen on your FiveM server
A FiveM loading screen is a small resource that FiveM shows to players while they connect to your server.
With fivem-lsm you design it in the browser for free, and installing it takes about two minutes: upload one folder and add one line to your server.cfg.
Before you start
- Access to your server files (FTP client, or the file manager of your server host).
- A loading screen. If you don't have one yet, create one for free, no coding and no credit card needed.
Step-by-step installation
- Download your loading screen. Open your loading screen in the dashboard, go to Install and click Download loading screen.
- Unzip the downloaded archive. You get a folder called
fivem-lsm.
- Connect to your FiveM server with an FTP client or your host's file browser.
- Upload the
fivem-lsm folder into your resources folder.
- Open your
server.cfg with a text editor.
- Add this line to the bottom of the file:
start fivem-lsm
- Save and upload the file, then restart your FiveM server. Join your server and your new loading screen appears.
Change your loading screen without reinstalling
Your loading screen is hosted by fivem-lsm, so every change you make on the edit page (text, rules, staff members, background images, music) applies to your server automatically. You only install it once.
Troubleshooting
- The loading screen doesn't show up: check that the folder is directly inside
resources (not inside another folder), that the name in server.cfg matches the folder name, and that you restarted the server.
- An old loading screen still shows: remove or comment out the
start/ensure line of your previous loading screen resource in server.cfg. Only one loading screen can be active.
- Still stuck? Ask in our Discord or check the FAQ.
